Come ride with us! Bring your horse and enjoy a lovely ride through these amazing lands!
The Orange County Horse Council is sponsoring the Stewart State Forest Trail Ride on (new!) Sunday morning, May 6th, 2012, rain or shine! Bring your horse and enjoy a great ride on marked trails on the 7,000-acre Stewart lands located in the beautiful Hudson Valley, lands that SPARC fought to save as open space -- a 20-year effort that resulted in Stewart State Forest's creation in November 2005.
Riders can choose to do the "Smooth and Easy" 1+ hour ride
or the longer, "Rough and Ready", 3+ hour ride, both utilizing interesting and
varied terrain on both carriage roads and trails. Trails are marked for you! Registration and
parking is at the north Ridge Rd. parking area, accessible from Rte. 17K
in Montgomery. Registration starts 9:30am; last ride out at noon. Thanks to our sponsors, there will be a raffle drawing for prizes.
The trail ride donation is $20 or $30 per rider, payable at the gate (checks or cash please). So pack a lunch and bring water for your
horse. Proof of Negative Coggins and Rabies is required. All proceeds
go to the Horse Council and SPARC, now a watchdog for the land for your benefit. Volunteers are needed to trail maintenance and other activities - contact volunteer Chairperson for the event, Debbie (info below) to help out.
